I was approached by the clients, who were unhappy with the dark and draughty north facing kitchen in their home. They did not need any extra space but were looking to make small changes to the existing kitchen to increase the light and feeling of comfort within the room. The design proposed increasing the size of windows on the eastern elevation and adding a glazed corner to the rear to enhance views of the garden. Changes to interior finishes, such as painting the existing timber kitchen in a lighter colour give a feeling of brightness and warmth. A built in bench/ window seat was added to give additional space around the table and storage.
