Red Brick Terraced House Extension, Dublin 4
This 55 sqm red brick “2-up-2-down” in Donnybrook was bought by the clients needing full renovation. To create extra space a small 10 sqm extension was added to the back and a new bathroom was created with a dormer upstairs. Brick removed from the back wall of the house was re-purposed in the construction of the dormer to keep the original fabric where possible.
The kitchen was moved to the front of the house to give more privacy and the additional width to the dining and living spaces. Clever storage made the most of every inch in this house - the kitchen was built into the old fireplace, additional kitchen and coat storage was built in under the stairs. The stairs was opened up and a large glass panel introduced, which brings light down into the kitchen from the rooflight above the stairs.
